"The most disappointing thing is the future of the state," said S. Skvernelis, leader of the democrats"For the Sake of Lithuania", to Elta, commenting on the LSDP council's decision.

"Such drifting after such political forces poses a huge challenge. This is probably the only disappointment," he added, referring to the Social Democrats' decision to continue working with"Nemunas Aušra".

According to the politician, if the LSDP continues to cooperate with the"Austrians", the state will face challenges.

"There is a challenge for the Lithuanian state, also when it comes to national security. Because some individuals have not received permits to work with secret information," the head of parliament said, probably referring to R. Žemaitaitis.

According to the politician, the situation has not changed substantially since President Gitanas Nausėda called the presence of Nemunas Aušra in the coalition a mistake. Therefore, he reasoned, such a decision by the LSDP can only be explained by the fact that their interests and those of the"aušria" coincide.

"Interests change everything. From the moment it was stated that the coalition was a mistake, the situation has not improved in those months. We have seen votes related to national security... What pressure was needed to raise questions about defense," said S. Skvernelis.

ELTA reminds that the Social Democrats, who are constructing the new ruling coalition, decided to invite Remigijus Žemaitaitis'"Nemunas aušras" and Aurelijus Veryga's "Peasants" to work together.

The new majority is being formed after the scandal-plagued then-Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas resigned in late July. The Social Democrats nominated Inga Ruginienė, who headed the Ministry of Social Security and Labour (SADM), to this position - on Thursday, President Gitanas Nausėda signed a decree nominating the politician to the Seimas.
