Putin landed in Alaska before Trump?

A Russian government plane has landed in Alaska.

The Guardian states that Vladimir Putin and other Russian government officials were on that plane.

Although Trump's plane is scheduled to land before Putin, it is not yet known where Air Force One, which is carrying the American president and his delegation, is located.

Trump and Putin are supposed to hold a joint conference here

In the room where US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are supposed to address the public, everything is ready for their joint press conference, reports CNN.

Two podiums were set up on the stage, suggesting that the plan for the two world leaders to appear together is still underway. However, the very fact that until the last minute there was speculation about whether the conference would actually take place speaks volumes about the atmosphere of the meeting.

19:48

Putin and Trump arrive in Alaska in two hours

US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin are expected to touch down in Anchorage, Alaska within the next two hours to begin their key meeting.

According to the published schedule, Donald Trump's plane should land at 10:30 local time ( 20:30 Central European Time), while the arrival of Vladimir Putin is expected half an hour later, at 11:00 ( 21:00 Central European Time).

Trump is scheduled to greet Putin on the steps of the plane, after which he will retreat to a private meeting attended by several of his closest associates.

The Kremlin previously announced that the meeting could last six or even seven hours.

Delegation composition known

The delegations of Russia and the United States at the summit between President Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Alaska include heads of foreign policy departments and ministers of finance.

RIA Novosti provides the complete composition of the delegations.

The US delegation at the upcoming summit includes five high-ranking representatives: Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Finance Minister Scott Bessant, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Special Representative Steven Witkoff, who recently visited Moscow.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegsett was not initially on the shortlist of participants in the talks, but on Friday he headed to the base in Alaska, where the summit will take place.

Kellogg excluded from the summit because of his sympathies for Kiev

US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, wanted to attend the Russia-US summit in Alaska but was not included in the delegation, CNN reported, citing a European official.

According to a senior official of the Trump administration, the Russian side believes that Kellogg is sympathetic to Kiev, which is why his presence at the summit could be"counterproductive."

Trump from the plane: I want a ceasefire in Ukraine today

Ahead of his meeting with Putin in Alaska, Trump said he wants an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine. He emphasized that his main goal is to stop the killing and that he will not be happy if it does not happen immediately.

Trump outlined his expectations to reporters aboard Air Force One, emphasizing his desire for an immediate ceasefire.

When asked what he would consider the success of today's summit, Trump was clear."I want to see a ceasefire," he said, adding that he did not want Europe to conduct him."This has nothing to do with Europe. Europe is not telling me what to do, but they will be involved in the process, obviously, as will Zelensky. I want a quick ceasefire," he said.

He emphasized the urgency of the situation, expressing impatience."I don't know if it's going to be today, but I'm not going to be happy if it's not today. Everybody said it can't be today, but I'm just saying I want the killing to stop," Trump said.

Putin laid flowers at the monument to the Russian-American alliance

Ahead of a meeting with Donald Trump in Alaska, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a symbolic move that the Kremlin hopes will resonate strongly - he laid flowers at a monument to Russian-American cooperation during World War II.

The monument shows Soviet and American pilots shaking hands, immortalized on the wing of the plane. It celebrates the Alaska-Siberia air route, a key corridor through which about 8,000 American Lend and Lisa fighters were delivered to the Soviet front between 1942 and 1945.

Interestingly, an identical monument exists in Fairbanks, Alaska, but its story reveals today's tensions. It used to have both the Russian tricolor and the American flag, but as of 2022, only the American flag remains.

18:56

Zelensky: On the day of the talks, the Russians kill

Ukrainian President Zelensky condemned the Russian attacks, which took place on the same day Donald Trump met Vladimir Putin, saying:"On the day of negotiations, they also kill."

Commenting on the summit, Zelensky announced on his Telegram channel that at the same time there were reports of, as he stated,"deliberate Russian strikes" on Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporozhye, Kherson and Donetsk regions.

"The war continues," he said."It continues precisely because there is not only an order, but also signals of Moscow's readiness to end this war."

His message was unequivocal: "On the day of negotiations, they also kill. And that says a lot."

Moscow announced how long the meeting would last

The negotiations between the presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States of America, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, could last at least 6 to 7 hours, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov believes.

"On the whole, it can be assumed that, of course, at least 6-7 hours will be needed for that," said Peskov in the program on the First Channel.

He specified that the conversation will first be held in a tete-a-tete format, then with the participation of assistants, and then the negotiations will continue as part of delegations, possibly in the format of a working lunch, after which a joint press conference of the two leaders is planned.

The Russian side expects that the meeting between Putin and Trump in Alaska will end successfully, the spokesman of the Russian president announced.

Russian journalists in Alaska housed in a former covid hospital

While some members of the Russian delegation were in a confident mood ahead of the summit in Anchorage, Alaska, Russian state media journalists covering the event did not share their enthusiasm.

Upon arrival in Alaska's largest city, they were met with accommodation that many described as far from ideal.

17:44

Kiev: Putin will try to present Ukraine as an artificial state

At the summit in Alaska, Russian President Vladimir Putin will reportedly present"historical materials" to US President Donald Trump with which he wants to portray Ukraine as an artificial state.

17:42

Trump will meet Putin on the runway of the airport in Alaska

The Kremlin has announced that US President Donald Trump will personally meet Russian President Vladimir Putin next to his plane upon his arrival at the summit in Alaska.

The first big moment of the upcoming summit in Alaska will probably happen immediately after the arrival of the Russian delegation. The Kremlin has just announced that US President Donald Trump will officially meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on the runway, right next to his plane.

This unusual diplomatic gesture, with which Trump deviates from the usual protocol, is interpreted as a sign of goodwill and a hint of the tone of future talks between the two world leaders, US media write.

17:20

Trump spoke with Lukashenko

Donald Trump spoke by phone with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko today, the Belarusian news agency Belta reported. Trump also confirmed the conversation.

"I had an excellent conversation with the highly respected President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko. The purpose of the call was to thank him for the release of 16 prisoners.

We also discussed the release of an additional 1,300 prisoners. Our conversation was very good. We discussed many topics, including President Putin's visit to Alaska. I look forward to meeting President Lukashenko in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter!", he wrote.

It is known when Putin arrives in Alaska

Russian President Vladimir Putin's flight from Magadan to Anchorage, Alaska, where he will meet with his American counterpart Donald Trump, will be"punctual" and Putin is expected to land at 9 p.m. (CST), Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Peskov announced that Putin is currently having a meeting on issues related to the development of the Magadan region.

"Then there will be a special meeting with the governor. And then there will be an exact flight from Magadan to Anchorage because the president has to land at exactly 11 a.m. local time, and President Trump will meet him at the plane," said Peskov.

Putin's spokesman also pointed out that the Russian president will work on documents during the summer for Alaska, including all theses of the upcoming summit with Trump.

Trump: I will not negotiate on behalf of Ukraine

US President Donald Trump made a series of statements ahead of the summit in Alaska. Among other things, he said what topics he intends to discuss with Vladimir Putin.

The leaders will raise the issue of territories. According to the American leader, Kiev should make a decision on this issue:

"I think they will make the right decision. But I will not negotiate on their behalf: I am here to bring everything to the negotiating table."

The head of the White House refused to provide Ukraine with security guarantees in the format of NATO, they can be provided with the participation of Europe and other countries.

The president is ready to discuss business issues with Putin if progress can be made in resolving the conflict.

Trump called the Russian leader"smart" and expressed hope that "something will come out of the Alaska summit."

He claims that Moscow will face "severe economic consequences" if the meeting does not yield success on the Ukraine crisis.

Trump's late departure to Alaska!

Trump should have already been on the plane to Alaska, since the White House announced his departure for the summit with Putin at 6:45 a.m. Washington time, which is 12:45 p.m. in Serbia.

A BBC reporter reports that he has yet to appear, however, and the AP's streaming shows that the front lawn of the White House is still empty.

Former MI6 chief: If there is a peace deal today, it's bad news for Ukraine

Sir John Sowers, the former head of MI6, told Sky News that if a peace deal were to be reached in Alaska today, it would probably be bad news for Ukraine.

- I do not expect that a clear peace plan will emerge from this meeting. If there is, it is very bad news for Ukraine, because if Putin succeeds in convincing President Trump to a position that is close to the Russian view of how the war should end, Ukraine could essentially be subordinated to the Kremlin's control - Soers said.

11:09

Putin in Magadan in the far east of Russia

The Moscow Times reported that Putin is in the city of Magadan in the far east of the country ahead of his trip to Alaska for a summit with Trump.

A video appeared on social networks purporting to be a convoy of vehicles with Putin in it, and Russian media reported that Magadan is a four-hour plane ride from Anchorage and that it was twinned with the largest city in Alaska.

Anchorage ended that relationship in 2023.

10:56

Putin's envoy Dimitriyev also arrived

Kirill Dmitriev, Putin's special representative of the President of Russia for investments and economic cooperation with foreign countries, also visited Anchorage.

He stated that Russia hopes for a constructive dialogue and sees an opportunity to directly convey its position to the American side.

- An extremely important meeting for the whole world. There is a lot of misinformation about Russia, and this is an opportunity to clearly state Russia's position to the American side - Dimitriev said.

- The goal must be a summit in which President Zelenski will also participate. A ceasefire must be agreed there. Ukraine needs strong security guarantees. Territorial issues can only be decided with the consent of the Ukrainians - said Mertz in a statement published today.

Lavrov asked about Trump's"25% chance" of the summit failing
