Russian Attack on Kyiv - Casualties and Destruction

Targeting of Diplomatic Buildings

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Szibiha announced in an X-post on Thursday evening that the Hungarian ambassador in Kiev had been summoned. Antal Heizer was informed in a letter that they were protesting discrimination against the Hungarian minority in Ukraine, in particular the expulsion from Hungary of Major Robert Brovdi, the military commander responsible for drone warfare.

Szibiha added that he encourages Hungary to refrain from unfriendly steps and instead pursue a constructive dialogue with Ukraine, to which his country remains willing.

The Ukrainian Foreign Minister has previously reacted to the banning of the Hungarian-born major from Transcarpathia, sending a message directly to Péter Szijjártó.

“How shameless to post about this after the Russian terrorist state carried out a brutal attack. Peter, if the Russian oil pipeline is more important to you than the Ukrainian children murdered by Russia this morning, then that is moral decay. Hungary is on the wrong side of history,” the minister said, referring to the fact that the Russians launched a massive drone and missile attack on Ukraine at dawn on Thursday, and several children lost their lives in the strikes.

Péter Szijjártó responded to this as follows:"This is not our war! We are not responsible for it, we did not start it, we are not participating in it. Do not provoke us, do not endanger our energy security and do not try to drag us into your war," the Hungarian Foreign Minister wrote on X. He announced on Facebook on Thursday morning that the government would ban the commander of the Ukrainian military unit that carried out the latest serious airstrike on the Barátság oil pipeline from Hungary, and also from the Schengen area. According to the official justification, the presence of the major with the call sign"Magyar" in Hungary would pose a national security risk.
