US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the issue of territorial exchange is on the agenda of his meeting with the Russian leader in Anchorage in the context of resolving Russia's war in Ukraine.
He said this while answering questions from journalists on board the presidential plane on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"This (the issue of territorial concessions - ed.) will be discussed, but I have to give Ukraine the right to make this decision, and I think they will make the right decision," Trump said.
He emphasized that he is not participating in the first meeting with Putin to negotiate on behalf of Ukraine. According to Trump, his goal is to bring them (both sides – ed.) to the negotiating table.
As Ukrinform reported, US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Putin are scheduled to meet on August 15 in Anchorage, the largest city in the state of Alaska. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. local time (10:00 p.m. Kyiv time).
Trump and Putin are expected to hold a one-on-one meeting with interpreters. A delegation meeting is scheduled to follow.
