Escalation Concerns

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made important statements after the cabinet meeting. Erdoğan made the following statements: I respectfully greet our friends and brothers from all around the world from here. I am pleased to be with you after Eid al-Adha. Despite all the troubles, conflicts and oppression in our immediate environment, we, as a nation, left Eid al-Adha behind in peace, tranquility and security. On this occasion, I once again wholeheartedly congratulate our dear nation and the Islamic world on Eid al-Adha. I say may Allah be pleased with all our brothers who commemorate these blessed days by sacrificing their animals, sharing the blessings of the holiday with their families, neighbors and friends through the charitable and good deeds they do, and extending the helping hand of our nation from Africa to Asia, together with our 81 provinces, to the farthest corners of our heart's geography.

I pray to God with all my heart that our citizens who have started to return to our country after fulfilling their hajj duty will have a legitimate and acceptable hajj. Again, on this occasion, I would like to convey my love to our Palestinian brothers and sisters who are trying to celebrate Eid al-Adha under various impossibilities under the vile attacks of Israel in Palestinian territories, especially in Gaza and the West Bank. I congratulate the relevant institutions of our state as well as our foundations, associations and philanthropists for not leaving the Palestinian people alone on this holiday. Despite some heedless people among us, our nation, thank God, has not forgotten the oppressed on this holiday as befits itself and has made an effort to express its duty of brotherhood by believing in the blessing of sharing and the power of solidarity. I would also like to congratulate our security forces who have selflessly served for the safety and peace of our citizens throughout the holiday. I wish God's mercy on our brothers who lost their lives due to traffic accidents, healing for our wounds and a sahru jamil for those who lost their loved ones. We have really made an intensive effort to prevent loss of life this year. Our gendarmerie and security units were on the field day and night. They were literally mobilized to ensure that millions of our citizens could travel safely, comfortably and without any problems.

The necessary measures were also taken to meet the increasing demand in airways and railways. Here, I would like to share some striking figures with you. Esteemed members of the press, 16.3 million vehicles passed through our highways between June 4 and 9. In other words, more than half of the total number of vehicles in our country were on the roads. A total of two million seven hundred and eighty-three thousand people used high-speed trains, mainline and regional trains, and urban rail systems. We bid farewell to three point nine million passengers at our airports. We served 1 million 152 thousand passengers at Istanbul Airport, which was the subject of many unjust electricity bills from the project phase to its opening. 189 thousand 470 passengers used Esenboğa Airport during the same period. And passenger records were broken at Aydın Adnan Menderes airports on different days. We have seen once again the importance of the huge investments we have made to develop our transportation infrastructure during this process. We continue to add new links to our investment chain in this area.

'WE WILL MAKE Türkiye THE LOGISTICS CENTER OF GLOBAL TRADE'

We laid the foundation of the Delice Çorum stage of the Ankara, Kırıkkale, Çorum, Samsun, High-Speed Railway project two days ago. When our line, which is planned to be suitable for a speed of two hundred kilometers per hour, is completed, an uninterrupted high-speed train connection will be provided between Ankara, Kırıkkale, Çorum. The distance between Çorum and Ankara will be reduced to one hour and fifteen minutes. With the completion of the 173-kilometer Çorum, Merzifon, Samsun sections, the travel time between Ankara and Samsun will be 2.5 hours. With this line, God willing, we will connect the Samsun Port and the Mersin Port. It will ease the freight traffic on the Istanbul and Çanakkale Straits. We will make Türkiye the logistics center of global trade. We plan to put the line, which consists of 5 stations, 8 tunnels, 26 bridges, viaducts and 16 overpasses, into operation in 2029, God willing. I hope that our line, which was the subject of various speculations by the opposition during the local elections, will already be beneficial to our cities. We are slowly seeing the rewards of the efforts we have given to the defense industry. We have signed a very important contract in our national combat aircraft Kaan project, which some people made fun of when we introduced it two years ago by saying it looked like a radiator.

'WE ARE CONDUCTING INTENSIVE DIPLOMACY TRAFFIC TO STOP CONFLICTS'

At the Indo Defense 2025 fair, an agreement was reached for the sale of 48 Kaan to Indonesia in the first stage. I hope that this historic agreement, which totals approximately 15 billion dollars, will be auspicious for our country, our defense industry and our Indonesian brothers. My nation, valuable members of the press, there have been very serious tensions, conflicts and wars in our region for a while now. The Russia-Ukraine war continues with its severe consequences that wear both sides out. Although the tension between Pakistan and India does not last very long as a conflict, it retains its potential danger due to the power the parties possess. The genocide committed by Israel in Gaza before the eyes of the whole world and the reckless actions it has carried out in Lebanon and Syria make all of our hearts bleed. The same Israel has now launched an attack against our neighbor Iran. It is becoming better understood every day that the attack, which was launched under the pretext of targeting Iran's nuclear facilities, actually has very comprehensive and insidious purposes. We have argued from the very beginning that discussions on Iran's nuclear program should be conducted at the negotiating table, and we are at the same point today. Since Friday, both we personally and our foreign minister have been conducting intense diplomatic traffic to stop the conflicts.

'EVERY EVENT IN THE REGION CONCERNS ALL SOCIETIES'

We have stated that the solution to the problem is possible through diplomacy and dialogue. As Turkey, we have openly conveyed to all our interlocutors that we are ready to do whatever is necessary, including facilitating. First of all, it is very important to know this. No one can predict what will happen in the future if we try to solve issues that can be solved at the table with weapons, destruction, blood, chaos, and bombing everything that comes our way without making a distinction between civilians and soldiers. History is full of examples that reveal the unexpected results of such arrogance. Although our national poet Mehmet Akif describes history as repeating itself. Even though he said that if a lesson were ever learned, would it repeat itself, we will continue to insistently express our wish for a lesson to be learned. Israel, which attacks Iran with the unlimited support of the West, destroys Gaza, and bullies every country in the region, is not actually aware of what it is doing. Maybe it will realize its mistake in the future, but we are afraid that by then it will be too late. It should not be forgotten that no country in this ancient geography consists of its own borders and administration. Due to deep relationships spanning thousands of years, every incident in the region closely concerns all societies. The effects are in the medium and long-term results. In fact, attacking the Palestinian people and their lands is not an incident limited to a few million people there. Again, attacking the Iranian lands and people is not a case that concerns only the Iranian state. We can make the same observations for the geography of Pakistan and Afghanistan and the Turkish Republics in North Africa. Especially when it comes to Turkey, it is possible to talk about an influence power that transcends continents. Any moment taken without considering these truths in our region invites other disasters to occur in the future.

'THE END OF OPPRESSION IS A DEEP REGRET'

You cannot prosper through oppression. The end of oppression is deep regret. As Turkey and the Turkish Nation, we are making a sincere effort to embrace first our own citizens, then our friendly and brotherly communities, and ultimately all of humanity within the framework of the principles of morality, conscience, justice, and fairness that our civilizational heritage has taught us. We sometimes embody this effort with the aid we provide, sometimes with our diplomatic support, sometimes with our commercial and technological partnerships, and sometimes with our social and cultural fusions. We have recently followed the results of this approach together in the Balkans, Karabakh, Libya, and Syria. God willing, we will not only glorify unity, togetherness, and brotherhood within ourselves, but will also continue our efforts to ensure that the same climate prevails in our region. My dear nation, we need to see very well another important message given to us by the crises experienced in our region, together with our state, our nation, and our people from all walks of life. If you are not strong politically, socially, economically, militarily, if you are not self-sufficient, if you have not reached the level of deterrence, your job is very difficult. At any moment, someone who thinks he is stronger than you can punch you, take you under his yoke, impose tribute, reduce you to a humiliated state. As a nation, we have the character to prefer death rather than living with such shame. I have said before, we would rather lie honorably underground than live dishonorably above the ground. We have demonstrated this will many times in our history full of struggles. Of course, the way to avoid falling into this situation is through words, literature, and superficial statements that leave no stone unturned, as some do. For this, you will work, develop, produce, sweat, and prove your maturity to the whole world.

When we came to power, let's not say that there was nothing in our country in terms of defense industry, but there was no significant accumulation that would truly touch the teeth and fill the deterrent power we talked about. The well-intentioned initiatives launched after the Cyprus Peace Operation could not go beyond the level of what we could call an assembly industry. There was no effort or activity in terms of innovation. We rolled up our sleeves immediately. We canceled ready-made purchase orders other than urgent needs. We expanded this resource by making additions to it and put it at the disposal of our defense industry. Of course, it was not easy to reach this point in 23 years. We already accept the obstacles coming from outside as normal. But we have never forgotten and will never forget that some people inside tried to sabotage everything that was done by discrediting it and creating unnecessary obstacles in the bureaucracy, academia and media. The same mentality continues its sabotage in every subject and at every moment it finds the opportunity today. These are the mankurts who are citizens of this country in body but have given their souls to the disposal of imperialists. Whatever we did, we did it despite these imperialist lackeys who appeared to be us and shot their arrows at us.

'IT IS THE FOUNDATION OF Türkiye'S STABILITY AND FUTURE'

At this point, it has become one of the leading countries in the world, especially in unmanned aerial vehicles. We have become a global brand in terms of armored land vehicles. We develop and produce our own manned and unmanned aircraft, our own missiles, our own radars, our own sea vehicles, and our own communication systems. I would like to state this with great pride and peace of mind. The most difficult part is behind us. We know best what it means to bring a product to the production stage with its design, software, hardware and other elements. Now, we have come to the stage of manufacturing these products that have entered our inventory in a way and quantity that will support our deterrence. Our National War Plane Kaan is one of the most striking examples of this. Similarly, we are making production plans that will bring our medium and long-range missile stocks to the deterrence level in the light of recent developments. Hopefully, in a not-so-long period, we will have reached a defense capacity where no one, no one, will dare to even challenge us. The condition for this is to maintain political stability, keep our economy strong, strengthen social peace and develop our diplomatic relations. They say there is no mercy without trouble. As a state and a nation, we will make some sacrifices that will cause us some troubles so that we can reach our goals. I also see benefit in reading the struggle against the mentality and politician types that do not have such a vision and are only trying to be in the country with shady relations and inflating the product of resources from this perspective. As Turkey gets rid of its bile, it looks to its future in every field with hope. Let no one doubt this. Our government and alliance are the foundation and guarantee of Türkiye's stability and future in this painful period that our region is in. The trust of 86 million is safe in reliable and competent hands. With Allah's permission, no one will be able to prevent the construction of the century of Turkey. Just as we have overcome many troubles with our heads held high, we will also keep our country away from the negative effects of the crises in our region, God willing.

'Türkiye'S GREATEST NEED IS THE POLICY OF UNITY AND BROTHERHOOD'

It is not in anyone’s interest in this country that our country is weakened through political and social polarization, street and tension politics, and empty patriotic rhetoric. Those who say “yes” to the country’s weakness in order to weaken the government cannot be held accountable for this either in history or in the conscience of the society. We wish that the opposition does not make the same mistake they made at the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine war for the sake of playing to the stands. Today is the day to do responsible politics in particular. Turkey reads all events with the intelligence of the state and its deep-rooted experience, evaluates them with common sense and composure, and takes the necessary steps for the security and peace of all 86 million people. We are not concerned with pouring gasoline on the fire like some people, but with extinguishing the fire as soon as possible before it grows any bigger. Our aim is for peace and tranquility to prevail in our region, and for the environment of stability and trust to be established and strengthened very strongly. There can be no justification for using developments as a polemic material for daily politics, making unjust and unfounded accusations while the struggle for regional stability and national security is evident. I believe that everyone should pay attention to the following point. Throughout history, we, as a nation, have maintained our fortitude, nobility, strength and solidarity and have overcome the obstacles placed in front of us one by one. This is how we repelled the attacks on our survival. This is how we foiled the games played on us. This is how we emerged from dark tunnels into the light. Today, Türkiye's greatest need is the politics of unity and brotherhood. By believing in each other, trusting each other, and giving 86 million hearts to hearts, we will hopefully reach a beautiful tomorrow together. I would like to emphasize once again that there has been no deviation from our goal of transforming Türkiye into an influential power in the region and the world. Today, we are better, stronger and in a more advanced position than yesterday. God willing, we will be stronger than today tomorrow. With God's help and the prayers of our beloved nation, we will continue to work without stopping or hesitation and to undertake services that will develop our country and our nation.

Indeed, despite all the crises experienced in our region, we are trying to provide a remedy for our nation's troubles. The reconstruction and revival of our earthquake zone remains at the top of our agenda. So far, we have delivered the keys to 201 thousand houses to our rightful brothers. God willing, on Thursday, we will deliver the keys to the 250 thousandth disaster house in Kahramanmaraş to our earthquake-stricken brothers. I say, may God be our helper and companion. As I conclude my words with these thoughts, I wish that our cabinet meeting and the decisions taken will be beneficial. I greet you once again with affection.
