According to the Polish operational command, due to the threat of drone strikes in the Ukrainian border regions, military and allied aircraft have begun operating over Poland, and anti-aircraft defense and radar systems have reached the highest level of readiness.
"Attention! Due to the threat of drone strikes (UAVs) in the regions of Ukraine bordering Poland, military aviation has begun operating in our airspace."
In order to ensure the security of our airspace, the Commander of the Operational Command has activated all necessary procedures. Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, and air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have reached the highest level of readiness.
These actions are preventive in nature and are aimed at protecting airspace and the safety of citizens, especially in areas adjacent to the threat zone.
"The operational command is constantly monitoring the situation, and the forces and assets subordinate to it remain fully prepared to respond immediately," the statement reads.
Lublin Airport was also closed due to the threat of drones.
"Due to military aviation actions, Lublin Airport and its controlled area have been closed to flight operations. We will continue to update you on the progress of the situation," the statement reads.
This information was also confirmed by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who also reiterated that Polish and allied military aviation is currently operating in the airspace.
"Due to the threat posed by Russian drones operating over Ukraine near the Polish border, preventive military aviation has been deployed in our airspace - both Polish and allied. Ground-based air defense systems have reached the highest level of readiness," Tusk wrote.
