The Israeli army announced that three bodies handed over overnight from the Gaza Strip through the mediation of the Red Cross do not belong to Israeli hostages held by the Hamas group.
According to an official statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), forensic analysis has confirmed that the identities of the bodies do not match any of the known cases of hostages believed to have died but not yet returned to Israel.
"After conducting a detailed forensic examination, it became clear that the bodies handed over were not those of Israeli hostages," the army said.
Currently, 11 Israeli hostages are still considered dead and not released by Hamas despite a ceasefire agreement brokered by the US. The agreement included a hostage exchange and a temporary cessation of hostilities, but its implementation remains partial and tense.
Israeli authorities emphasize that efforts to search for and identify all missing citizens, as well as to return the remains of the deceased, are continuing. According to Israeli sources, the army and security services are working in coordination with international mediators to establish the fate of all hostages and prevent new cases of misleading information regarding their identities.
