President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's article titled"Common Path for Peace and Justice" was published in Chinese and English in People's Daily, one of China's leading media outlets.
The article written by President Erdoğan is as follows:
Throughout history, Turkey has been a country that has built bridges and brought civilizations together. The foundation of our foreign policy is to establish trust, keep channels of communication open, and demonstrate our determination to resolve crises. With this understanding, we make significant contributions to the stability of both our region and the global community; we strive intensely to ensure that peace, stability, and dialogue prevail.
As exemplified by the Black Sea Grain Initiative, we developed practical solutions to mitigate the impact of global crises fueled by the Russia-Ukraine war. Thanks to this initiative, food security for millions of people worldwide has been guaranteed. By bringing the parties together at the peace talks we hosted in Antalya and Istanbul, we maintained diplomatic activity and facilitated the opening of humanitarian corridors. We also played a critical role in the prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine. Finally, we increased our contribution to the process by hosting the peace talks that resumed in Istanbul in July 2025. We patiently continue our peace diplomacy, guided by the principle that"there are no winners in war and no losers in a just peace."
Meanwhile, our world is shaken today by crises more numerous and complex than anything seen in history. The current international system, unfortunately, is inadequate to overcome these crises and protect the rights of innocents. The events in Gaza, the occupation and massacre perpetrated by Israel, are one of the most striking examples of this reality. Türkiye's stance on Gaza is clear because human beings and human rights are at the core of our policy. Our efforts to ensure the safety of civilians, uninterrupted access to humanitarian aid, and a lasting ceasefire continue to grow. While supporting those in need on the ground, we are also working to implement the ceasefire through diplomacy and ensure the safety of innocent civilians. We believe that the guarantee of lasting peace in the Palestinian issue is clear: a fully independent and sovereign State of Palestine must be established based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The establishment of a State of Palestine is vital for lasting peace throughout the region.
Steps taken for regional peace must be multifaceted. Economic connections, infrastructure projects, energy cooperation, and cultural exchange are institutional elements that strengthen trust. Türkiye will continue to be an actor that strengthens global stability, increases humanitarian aid capacity, and produces solutions on multilateral platforms through projects it carries out in different regions.
The 25th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization's Council of Heads of State, to be held in Tianjin, one of China's ancient cities, from August 31 to September 1, 2025, will be an important platform for Turkey to share its views on regional and global issues. As a Dialogue Partner, Turkey considers it a fundamental responsibility to address regional peace, development, security, and economic issues, as well as the need to reshape justice, fairness, and the global order in international relations with a more inclusive understanding.
Turkey and the People's Republic of China, with their strong state traditions, resolute stance on development, and growing economies, represent two ancient civilizations at the eastern and western edges of the Asian continent. The relationship between our peoples stretches back thousands of years. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Turkey and the People's Republic of China in 1971, comprehensive political, economic, social, and cultural relations have steadily developed. We attach great importance to advancing this deep-rooted and close cooperation based on mutual respect and a win-win environment.
During my visit to China on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, I will meet with President Xi of the People's Republic of China. I hope this meeting will contribute, first and foremost, to strengthening the trust between us and deepening our bilateral relations.
As Turkey, we shape our present with the strength and experience we have gained from our past; we build our future on the foundation of peace, trust, and cooperation. Every step we take opens new horizons for the world, starting with our region. While we are going through"strange times," we will continue to assume responsibility with the determination to build trust, keep channels of dialogue open, and resolve crises. We believe that the international community, of which the People's Republic of China is a leading actor, uniting around a common conscience and shared interests will open the door to a more just and prosperous world.
