Mexico City. The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, said that"All cooperation is welcome," in response to the offer made by the United States government to deepen bilateral cooperation against organized crime, following the assassination of the mayor of Uruapan, Michoacán, Carlos Manzo Rodríguez.

At a press conference of the Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico, García Harfuch was questioned about the message on social media published by the United States Under Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, condemning the murder of the mayor of Michoacán.

“All cooperation is welcome, all of it. If they have information on the matter, we certainly welcome it, in this case, as in any other case where we work closely with them and exchange information. Of course, any kind of information, not only from the United States, but from any security institution, will always be welcome. And we will always collaborate with all Mexican or foreign institutions, of course,” García Harfuch responded.

This Sunday morning Christopher Landau wrote a message on his social media condemning the crime against Manzo.

“On this Day of the Dead, my thoughts are with the family and friends of Carlos Manzo, mayor of Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, who was murdered last night during a public Day of the Dead celebration. The United States is committed to deepening security cooperation with Mexico to eradicate organized crime on both sides of the border. Here we see Carlos with his young son in his arms during the celebration, moments before the attack. May his soul rest in peace and may his memory inspire swift and effective action. RIP.”
