Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says a unified and strong position by the Muslim world is an “absolute necessity” to stop the Israeli regime’s aggression against Islamic countries.

In a phone conversation with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Wednesday, Pezeshkian condemned the Israeli regime’s strikes on Qatar and an assassination attempt against leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.

“The Zionist regime’s behavior indicates that this regime is not committed to any framework or rule, and attacks any country at will without any consideration,” he said.

The Iranian president hailed his Egyptian counterpart’s clear and decisive stance in condemnation of the Israeli criminal act in Qatar and expressed hope that the Muslin nations would act as a unified entity to prevent any further Israeli attacks.

The Israeli strike, which targeted senior Hamas leaders, constituted a direct attack on Qatari territory, marking a significant escalation since the outbreak of the Gaza genocide on October 7, 2023.

Qatar has been a key regional mediator in negotiations between the Palestinian resistance organization Hamas and Israel.

Six people were killed in the Tuesday attack that hit a building in Doha where Hamas officials were discussing Gaza ceasefire proposals.

The Israeli attack was condemned by world leaders, regional resistance groups, and many international and religious organizations.

Pezeshkian also extended an invitation to Sisi to visit Tehran, expressing hope that top officials of the two countries would meet soon to discuss ways to promote mutual relations and strengthen cohesion in the Muslim world.

For his part, the Egyptian president hailed an agreement reached between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which clearly shows the Islamic Republic’s sincerity and goodwill to maintain regional stability, peace and security.

He said regional countries are confident about Iran’s wise approaches to the nuclear issue, emphasizing that there is no military solution in this regard.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and the IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi on Tuesday reached an agreement in Cairo. The agreement aims to pave the way for the resumption of cooperation between Iran and the UN nuclear agency.

The Egyptian president also reaffirmed his country’s strong opposition to any act of aggression against Muslim lands and violation of Muslim nations’ red lines.

He emphasized that the recent Israeli moves underscore the pressing need for a collective and decisive position against the regime’s expansionist ambitions in the region.
