UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said on October 24 that a"coalition of the willing" had prepared a peace plan for Ukraine by the end of 2025. This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Sky News.
"We have jointly developed a concrete plan by the end of the year. First of all, we will do everything to remove Russian oil and gas from global markets. We call on everyone to implement these sanctions and reduce dependence," he stressed.
Ukraine not only withstood the first blow of the Russian invasion, but also proved to the whole world that it is capable of effectively resisting an army once called the second most powerful in the world.
This was stated by Austrian military expert, Reserve Brigadier General of the Austrian Armed Forces Gerald Karner, in an interview with the Ukrinform news agency.
"On February 24, 2022, I would not have imagined that Ukraine would be able to defend itself for so long. However, over the weeks it has become increasingly clear that the Russian attack was not carefully planned, and more importantly, was very poorly executed," said Karner, commenting on whether he expected Ukraine to resist Russian aggression for so long and effectively.
US President Donald Trump's unexpected decision to impose new sanctions on Russia surprised many - including some in the White House.
However, as CNN reports, it was a gradual realization that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's position on ending the war in Ukraine had not changed significantly since the meeting in Alaska.
According to a senior White House official, there was no single moment that dramatically changed Trump's mind. His view was said to have been influenced by repeated disappointments when the US president saw that Putin was clearly unwilling to end the war.
