Hamas' Response to Ceasefire Proposals

Gaza, Trump: “Sì di Israele a tregua di 60 giorni”. Ministro della Giustizia di Tel Aviv: “Annettiamo la Cisgiordania”
  • Marwan al-Sultan, the director of an Indonesian hospital in the Gaza Strip, was killed along with his family in an Israeli air strike on Gaza City, al-Jazeera reported, saying he was killed in an attack on a residential area in the southwest of the city. His wife and children were also killed.
  • Israeli Justice Minister Yariv Levin said the time had come to annex the West Bank during a meeting with settler leader Yossi Dagan. “I think this period is a time of historic opportunity that we must not miss,” referring to the annexation of the disputed territory. “The time has come for sovereignty, the time to apply sovereignty. My position on this issue is firm, it is clear,” Levin told Dagan, according to Dagan’s office and a video released by Levin. The minister said the issue must be “at the top of the list of priorities.”
  • Israeli far-right minister Itamar Ben Gvir has reportedly contacted his messianic counterpart Bezalel Smotrich to form a common front to scuttle the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, Israeli media reported. The two ministers are expected to meet soon to coordinate. Smotrich's office denied that there had been any direct contact. A source close to the minister said that Ben Gvir “spoke to the media about a meeting that has not yet been scheduled. The victory in Gaza is too important and the lives of the hostages too precious to turn it into a media game.”
  • Hamas is ready for a ceasefire agreement with Israel, but any agreement must lead to an end to the war in Gaza. This is the position expressed by the group through its official, Taher al-Nunu, after US President Donald Trump announced a proposal in the past few hours, saying that Israel has accepted it and inviting Hamas to do so as well. Hamas is"ready and serious about reaching an agreement," al-Nunu said, specifying that the Palestinian group is"ready to accept any initiative that clearly leads to the complete end of the war." With these words, therefore, Hamas has shown itself open to an agreement but has not declared acceptance of the proposal of Trump, who is increasing pressure on the Israeli government and the militant group to reach an agreement on a ceasefire and hostages.
  • There are more than 30 Palestinians in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since dawn today. This was reported by Al Jazeera citing hospital sources. The dead include 6 people killed in a drone strike on tents housing displaced people in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis in the southern Strip. Another 10 people, mostly children, were injured in the strike, according to medical sources. In addition, 5 people, including children, were killed in an Israeli air strike in Deir el-Balah, central Gaza. And another Israeli airstrike on a house in the Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City left four dead, including two children, a source at al-Ahli Arab Hospital told Al-Jazeera Arabic.
  • Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sàar said no opportunity should be missed to free the hostages held in Gaza, after US President Donald Trump said Israel had agreed to finalize a 60-day ceasefire. “A large majority within the government and the population support the plan to free the hostages. If the opportunity presents itself, it should not be missed!” Gideon Sàar wrote on X.
  • Israeli strikes killed at least 14 people today in Gaza, the Gaza Civil Defense Agency said, as reported by international media. In the southern Strip, civil defense spokesman Mahmud Bassal said that five members of the same family were killed and several others were injured in an Israeli air strike that hit a tent housing displaced people in the coastal area of Al-Mawasi. Footage from the nearby Nasser hospital in the city of Khan Yunis shows doctors treating young children covered in blood.
  • At least four people, including two children, have been killed in an Israeli air strike on a home in the
  • Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City, sources at al-Ahli Arab hospital told Al Jazeera.
  • Donald Trump has announced that Israel has accepted the terms of a 60-day truce in Gaza. “My representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today (Tuesday) on Gaza. Israel has agreed to the conditions necessary to finalize the 60-day ceasefire, during which we will work with all parties to end the war,” Trump announced on Truth. “The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked hard to help bring peace, will present this final proposal” to Hamas. “I hope, for the sake of the Middle East, that Hamas will accept this agreement, because the situation will not get better, it will get worse,” the American president concluded. The announcement came after talks in the American capital between Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer and senior administration officials, including Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. A few hours before the post, Trump, speaking to reporters in Florida , had reiterated his belief that Netanyahu was ready for an agreement and that it would be reached within the week. At stake are the increasingly desperate conditions of Palestinian civilians in the Strip and the lives of 50 hostages. Now it remains to be seen how Hamas will welcome the American proposal, which in the words of the tycoon sounds almost like an ultimatum. The American president warned that, in the absence of an agreement, the situation can only get worse. In addition, over 150 international humanitarian organizations, including Oxfam, Save the Children and Amnesty International, have published a joint statement calling for the dismantling of the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), supported by Israel and the United States. In the meantime, Israeli air raids on the Strip have continued. The Nasser hospital in Khan Younis reported at least 37 victims in the southern area, while according to Al Jazeera the toll from the Israeli bombing on Monday on an internet cafe on the northern coast has risen to 39 dead and dozens injured. Among the victims is also the Palestinian photojournalist Ismail Abu Hatab.
