The measures will be permanent throughout his term. Speaking at the Rural Council, Javier Milei maintained that the taxes were a deliberate political plan perpetuated by the elite to squeeze the country's most thriving sector, ultimately destroying the dairy cow. He stated that the taxes are sinister and harmful. And he announced a reduction in export duties.
During his speech at the Palermo Rural Exposition, President Javier Milei harshly criticized the withholding tax system and announced a significant and permanent reduction in the rates levied on the agricultural sector.
The withholdings are disastrous and sinister. They were the deliberate result of a political plan, perpetuated by the elite over time, to squeeze the country's most thriving sector, Milei told an audience packed with rural leaders and producers.
Among the most significant announcements, the president confirmed the reduction of tax rates for various agricultural products:
- Withholding taxes on beef and poultry will be reduced from 6.75% to 5%.
- Those on corn and sorghum will drop from 12% to 9.5%.
- In the case of sunflowers, they will go from 7% and 5% to 5.5% and 4%, respectively.
- Withholding taxes on soybeans will be reduced from 33% to 26%, and those on their byproducts from 31% to 24.5%.
He explained that this will mean a 20% reduction in tax pressure on the grain chain and a 26% reduction in the livestock sector.
"These reductions will be permanent and cannot be reversed while I am in government," Milei emphasized, attributing the possibility of this tax relief to the balance of public accounts:"This is possible thanks to the fiscal surplus."
He also called for the elimination of restrictions on the sale of livestock and slaughter, and maintained that the fight against"the impoverishing model" is not yet over: "We cannot consider the war over."
Finally, he also took aim at speculators, whom he accused of taking advantage of people's needs.
