TIF: Mitsotakis' speech in two directions, 1.7 billion euro measures

Saturday, September 6

At 20:00, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to take the stage at the TIF, whose speech is expected to move in two directions - the first will concern economic measures for 2026 and the second on reforms that should be implemented with a horizon of 2030.

These are reforms that go beyond the four-year horizon and for this, as he is expected to say, broader consensus is required, according to information cited by the Athens News Agency.

The main part of the Prime Minister's speech, according to the same information, will not be a list of individual measures, but the broader approach to reducing taxation, with the aim of increasing disposable income.

The amount of measures that Mr. Mitsotakis will announce will be close to 1.7 billion euros.

The government aims to increase incomes through tax cuts with permanent features, which will affect public and private employees, freelancers and retirees.

The Prime Minister is expected to note that the Greek economy is performing and creating surpluses, which allow for interventions.

The Prime Minister is expected to begin his speech by recalling what he said at his first TIF in 2016, about tax cuts, income increases, etc., pointing out that they are exactly the same as what he is saying today, at his 10th TIF, in 2025.

In the political part of the speech, Mr. Mitsotakis will be brief, according to the same information, focusing particularly on the current international environment (with wars, economic insecurity, tariffs, etc.) which is translating into political crises, as is happening in France and the Netherlands.

In this context, it is expected to highlight the importance that economic stability and political certainty are gaining.
