US President Donald Trump said today that it has become difficult to work with the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas in recent days and is discussing"different plans" with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the release of hostages still being held in the Gaza Strip, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Trump stressed that Washington is working with other countries to provide more humanitarian assistance to the population of the Gaza Strip, including food and sanitary products.
"We're going to set up food distribution centers," without fences or borders to facilitate access, Trump told reporters after meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his golf course in the Turnberry resort in Scotland.
Starmer described the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip as"absolutely intolerable" and said humanitarian aid must be delivered to the Palestinian enclave as quickly as possible."We need to mobilise other countries to support the delivery of this aid and yes - that includes putting pressure on Israel because this is an absolute humanitarian catastrophe," he added.
The British Prime Minister also said that Hamas could play no role in any future government in a proposed Palestinian state.
