247 - Jair Bolsonaro (PL) appeared this Monday (9) at the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to follow the beginning of the evidentiary hearings in the process that investigates the attempted coup d'état after the election of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), in 2022. According to Metrópoles, upon arrival at the court, Bolsonaro declared himself"calm". The first to testify will be Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid, who acted as the then president's aide-de-camp and signed a plea bargain agreement with the Federal Police (PF). The choice of Cid to open the hearings is justified by the centrality of his revelations in the investigations into the coup plot.
The interrogations will be conducted by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the rapporteur of the criminal case at the Supreme Federal Court. In addition to Bolsonaro, seven defendants identified by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) as members of the most strategic nucleus of the alleged coup attempt will also testify throughout the week. The sessions will take place in the Court's First Chamber.
Moraes has reserved all working days this week exclusively for hearing defendants. On days without a plenary session in the afternoon, the hearings will continue into the evening. On Tuesday (10), for example, the proceedings are scheduled to begin at 9 am and continue until 8 pm.
