"At today's government meeting, we reviewed the consequences of the Russian missile attack on Munkács. I instructed the Minister of the Interior to prepare the hospitals in Debrecen and Nyíregyháza to receive the wounded. Thank God it was not necessary," Viktor Orbán wrote on Thursday afternoon.

He added that Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó had consulted with representatives of the Hungarians in Transcarpathia, who were offered the Hungarian government's help. At the end of his post, he emphasized that the efforts made towards peace and the negotiation process initiated by US President Donald Trump must continue.

Previously, Péter Szijjártó and Tamás Menczer, communications director from the Fidesz faction, also posted about the attack, but they only emphasized the importance of peace, forgetting to add that the Russians were responsible for the attack.

President Tamás Sulyok was among the first to express his condolences to the victims of the attack. In the first version of his post, he also wrote about a Russian missile attack, but later deleted the word"Russian" from his post.
