Slovenia joins the PURL program, under which NATO countries allocate money for the purchase American weapons for Ukraine. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Slovenia, Robert Golob, at a joint press conferences with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.

"I cannot disclose the amount because it is classified. And I do not have the authority to name it now. However, it is provided for in the budget of the Ministry of Defense for 2025, so this is not additional expenses," he shared.

Golob added that Slovenia's assistance under the PURL program will focus only on defensive weapons. He mentioned air defense systems that will help protect Ukraine's energy infrastructure from Russian attacks.

"Our duty is to help protect the Ukrainian people. That is why Slovenia has decided to join the PURL initiative to protect civilians and infrastructure, which is even more important now on the eve of winter," the Slovenian Prime Minister emphasized.

American weapons for Ukraine - important news

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in the first packages of the"Priority List of Ukraine's Requirements" (PURL) initiative, allies will buy in the USA missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems and shells for HIMARS rocket artillery systems. He noted that Ukraine received more than $2 billion from partners specifically for the PURL program.

In addition, at the end of September, Zelensky reported that within the framework of the PURL program it is planned funding six packages of various weapons In particular, since August, the Netherlands has financed the 1st package for $578 million, and Denmark, Norway, and Sweden together have financed the 2nd package for $495 million.
