Here are the highlights from Erdoğan’s speech: Ladies and gentlemen, I greet you with my most heartfelt feelings, respect, and affection.  It is a great honor to be with you on the occasion of the TRT World Forum, which is being held for the ninth time this year.

I would like to welcome you, our valued participants who have come to the forum from different parts of the country and the world, to our beautiful Istanbul, where 7 colors, 7 sounds and 7 climates meet.

We see that the Forum has become an extremely valuable platform for discussing issues affecting humanity. I wholeheartedly congratulate the TRT management and staff for successfully organizing the TRT World Forum since 2017.

I want to underscore one fact right at the outset of my speech: TRT, one of Turkey's most honored institutions, is a source of pride for us with its people-centered broadcasting approach and its broadcasts that convey the voice of truth to every corner of the world. TRT World Forum, organized by TRT, which has duly assumed the responsibility of public broadcasting, is one of the most valuable manifestations of this approach, which is now recognized and acknowledged across all seven continents.

To date, nearly a thousand speakers from various fields have shared their ideas, observations, and suggestions on this platform, and nearly ten thousand attendees have followed the programs live. Each year, under a different heading, we've had the opportunity to hear the views of distinguished figures in the fields of economics, politics, security, media, technology, and international relations.

This year, our forum is themed"Global Reconstruction: From the Old Order to New Realities." Over the next two days, 132 competent speakers and over 2,000 participants from 35 different countries will explore innovative solutions to global issues. Given the challenging times the world and our region are going through, such a fertile intellectual environment undoubtedly becomes even more important.

It is a fact that the more we talk about the problems that threaten the future of humanity and the more we discuss them with mutual respect, the more we can reach genuine solutions.

I hope that the issues to be discussed here, the ideas to be expressed here, and the calls to be raised here will contribute to all of humanity's search for peace and tranquility.

I wish the forum, which will thoroughly discuss not only media-related but also many global issues, a successful one. On behalf of myself and my nation, I extend my sincere gratitude to our guests who enriched the forum with their ideas and suggestions.

Esteemed guests, every day we live reveals the need to build a more just, more inclusive, and more encompassing global system. Wars, conflicts, inequality, and injustice have become a constant focus for all of humanity.

The current system, established by the victors of World War II, is unfortunately incompatible with today's realities and requirements. Due to the unjust decision-making structure of the United Nations Security Council, it fails to address humanity's common challenges.

While both the problems and the solutions are often clearly evident, innocent people continue to die in many parts of the world. As Turkey, we affirm that the fate of humanity cannot be left to the mercy of five countries, and for this reason, we say,"The world is bigger than five."

It is clear that the system, which is slow to make decisions even in the biggest humanitarian crises and the most concrete human rights violations, needs fresh ideas, new contributions and, of course, a restructuring that reflects the current situation.

Look, we've all been following the events in Gaza over the last two years. Over the course of two years, before the eyes of the world, the Israeli government martyred 70,000 Gazans, more than 20,000 of whom were children. More than 170,000 of our Palestinian brothers and sisters were injured in Israeli attacks. There's barely a single building left standing in Gaza.

'I GAVE THE NECESSARY ANSWER YESTERDAY'

Schools, churches, mosques, and hospitals were deliberately bombed. What are they still saying?"Israel is innocent." How can it be innocent? Israel has nuclear weapons, the most powerful bombs, and the ability to strike Gaza at any time it chooses. How can it be innocent?

This is exactly what happened to us yesterday, and we already said what was necessary there. Israel, on the contrary, is not innocent; it is the very oppressor. Israel has bombs. It has weapons of all kinds: short-range, medium-range, and long-range. How can it be oppressed? They won't buy it. Especially as Turkey, we won't buy it.

Israel... They're currently using hunger as a deadly weapon, especially against children. We just saw it on the screen; we saw those children reduced to skin and bones. And these children are being trained through hunger.

In the face of Israel's false propaganda machine, journalists who risk their lives trying to convey the truth on the ground to the world are being targeted: 270 journalists were murdered. Palestinian journalists lost not only their lives but also their children. Just now, one of our colleagues lost his wife and children there, in addition to himself. Their parents were also martyred in the process.

I regret to say that, throughout all this, the institutions charged with preserving global peace and stability took no steps to stop the massacres, prevent genocide, or save children's lives. Even the decisions passed by the General Assembly with an overwhelming majority were sacrificed to the interests of the Security Council. It is impossible to understand or make sense of this.

My brothers and sisters, I must also emphasize this here: The international press, including the media organizations that set up camp in Istanbul during the Gezi Park protests, has similarly failed in Gaza with its journalistic language that carefully conceals the perpetrators. We will uphold the memory of the other 270 press members and, in light of the evidence they collected at the expense of their lives, ensure that the perpetrators of the genocide are held accountable before the law. As Türkiye, we are ready to do our part in this regard.

We are ready to take whatever steps are necessary before all international mechanisms, especially the Hague Court of Justice.

As you know, after two years of oppression, a ceasefire agreement was reached between Hamas and Israel in recent weeks, with our support. This has allowed our brothers and sisters in Gaza to breathe a sigh of relief for the first time. We see that Hamas is meticulous about its compliance with the agreement, while Israel is practically searching for an excuse, waiting for an opportunity, to break the agreement and resume its massacres.

Just the other day, they martyred over a hundred Gazans, many of them children. Everyone knows Israel's abysmal record of keeping its promises. The ceasefire will only last, humanitarian aid will reach our Gazan brothers and sisters, and the reconstruction phase of Gaza will begin if Israel is forced to do all of this.

Turkey is ready to contribute not just to Gaza's immediate recovery, but to its entire body. Just as we did yesterday, today and tomorrow, we will never abandon our Palestinian brothers and sisters and continue to defend the two-state solution.

In this regard, we consider the recent, successive decisions to recognize Palestine to be extremely significant. I urge those countries that have not yet taken this decision to act immediately and recognize the State of Palestine.

Dear friends, it's easy to sit back and watch, even criticize, global developments. The difficult part is changing, transforming, and lighting a candle against the darkness. But we've always chosen the difficult, not the easy. Rather than sitting back and watching or criticizing mistakes, we've chosen to take action, take responsibility, and fight to turn darkness into light.

We strive to bring peace, justice, solidarity, and tranquility to every corner of our civilizational geography, which stretches millions of square kilometers. As Turkey, we take the initiative not only in the newspaper pages but also in every humanitarian crisis.

From the very first day, we have assumed responsibility for a just and lasting peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine war, which is entering its fourth year. In our meetings with both Mr. Putin and Mr. Zelenskyy, we expressed our determination to provide all possible support for a ceasefire and, subsequently, for a lasting peace. I hope that in the near future, a compromise will be found between the parties, paving the way for the two neighboring peoples to once again live side by side in peace. Turkey will continue to contribute in every way to this end.

Last year, we helped resolve disputes between Somalia and Ethiopia that had the potential to escalate into a major crisis. We also played a leading role in overcoming the crisis that erupted in recent weeks between our sister countries, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The mediation efforts conducted by the National Intelligence Organization quickly bore fruit, demonstrating the trust placed in our country, and a ceasefire agreement was signed between the parties.

Look, I say this with all my heart and sincerity: in today's world, no country can afford to confine itself within its borders. Geographically, it's not an option for any country to remain indifferent to the problems in the region right next to it.

Today, whether in Gaza, Afghanistan, or Sudan, those who dismiss the deaths of innocents as"not our problem" will eventually learn that the truth is anything but. Those who, driven by selfishness, disregard the poverty, conflicts, and crises unfolding just beyond their borders cannot promise a bright future for their own children, let alone for humanity.

A world built on the principle that"everyone hangs by their own legs" is a harbinger of a dark future for all of us. Silence in the face of injustice means complicity in that injustice. Consenting to oppression, remember, is oppression. As people who believe in a day of judgment, we cannot consent to oppression; we cannot be among those who remain silent in the face of injustice.

I want to draw your attention to this point: if children continue to die from Asia to Africa, despite all the opportunities, all the technology, and the communications revolution of the last two decades, we must all question ourselves. I believe you, both as journalists and individuals, have followed the horrific images coming out of Sudan in recent days.

No one with a conscience can accept the massacres targeting civilians in al-Feshir; they cannot remain silent or indifferent. As Turkey, we condemn in the strongest possible terms the atrocities committed against civilians in al-Feshir. The attacks in al-Feshir and its surrounding areas must end, and the massacres targeting innocent civilians must be stopped immediately.

We are ready to fulfill, with sincerity and open-heartedness, whatever our brotherly bond demands. As long as brotherly blood is not shed, as long as innocent children, women, and civilians are not killed. I expect you, members of the press, to join us in this struggle by bringing the plight of our Sudanese brothers and sisters to the world.

Esteemed guests, dear friends: TRT plays a critical role in ensuring that these efforts we carry out for global peace remain etched in the collective memory of humanity.

Today, we represent our country in the best possible way with 17 television channels, 17 radio channels, digital applications, feature films, documentaries, and digital news platforms in foreign languages. Along with TRT World and TRT Arabi, we also reach more than half of the world's population through digital news platforms in the most widely spoken languages, as well as online and radio journalism in 41 languages and dialects.

With these broadcasts, TRT is broadening the groundwork for responsible broadcasting in an age where manipulation has become a media reflex. At a time when reality is sacrificed to perception, it offers a truth-based alternative to billions of people. I'd like to express our immense value in these broadcasts.

In this era when Turkish TV series are enjoyed by billions of people, TRT is also leading the way in the TV industry. TRT series are broadcast in over 110 countries and in over 50 languages. Thanks to these productions, many people from around the world are learning our beautiful Turkish and gaining an opportunity to learn about our history, culture, and national and spiritual values.

"THE FAMILY INSTITUTION IS UNDER SERIOUS ATTACK"

This is also crucial: As you know, the family institution is under serious attack. Distorted relationships, perverse trends, and relationships that disregard human nature are being encouraged through digital platforms. Social media platforms are similarly fueling this decay. The family institution, comprised of a man and a woman, is being effectively dynamited.

All manner of immorality is being legitimized through the concept of"freedom." People don't hesitate to reveal their private information just for the sake of a few likes, and unfortunately, they don't feel any shame about it either.

I believe we need to give more importance to productions that prioritize nationhood over individualism, solidarity over selfishness, genuine bonds over virtual relationships—in other words, that prioritize humanity and human values.

In this regard, I applaud TRT's efforts to promote clean, family-oriented content across both traditional and digital platforms. I expect you to continue on your path without sacrificing what is best, most accurate, most beneficial, and most moral for our country, our nation, and humanity for the sake of ratings.
