The President of the Republic, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, condemned “with absolute firmness” the murder of the mayor of Uruapan, Michoacán, Carlos Manzo, which occurred on Saturday night, and assured that her government will not allow impunity.
And he assured that"these regrettable events motivate us to further strengthen the security strategy."
“I condemn in the strongest possible terms the vile assassination of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo. I express my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, as well as to the people of Uruapan, for this irreparable loss,” the governor stated in a message posted on her social media accounts.

Sheinbaum reported that from the moment she became aware of the attack, she communicated with the governor of Michoacán and with the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, who —she said— maintains constant contact with the state prosecutor to follow up on the investigations.
The head of the federal government emphasized that she convened a Security Cabinet session this Sunday at the National Palace to guarantee support for the Michoacán government and coordinate actions to clarify the facts. “Today I convened the Security Cabinet to guarantee support for Michoacán and ensure there is no impunity. The territorial commanders of the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard were in communication with the mayor, and he had federal protection,” she noted.
He also reported that the Security Cabinet will hold a press conference to detail the progress of the investigation"with transparency and responsibility".
Sheinbaum stressed that her government has strengthened the National Security Strategy since the beginning of the administration, but acknowledged that events like this"encourage us to redouble our efforts."
“We reaffirm our commitment to dedicate all the efforts of the State to achieving peace and security with zero impunity and justice,” the president concluded.
