  • At 1:55 PM, the temporary observer team (IOT) arrived at the 34th Infantry Regiment (Ban Nong Ya Kaew), Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province, to listen to a situation briefing from the commander of Task Force 12.

  • At 2:10 PM, the IOT teams from both sides went to the area to talk at the barbed wire self-defense line. Ban Nong Ya Kaew, by the IOT team, inspected the area where the Cambodian side tried to dismantle the barbed wire.

  • At 3:10 PM, the IOT team (Thai side) returned.

  • At 4:00 PM, the Thai side came to reinforce the defense line to be more stable and stronger.

  • At 4:06 PM, the Cambodian side brought civilians, men, women, children, monks to put pressure on the barbed wire line.

  • At 4:17 PM, from aerial photographs, a convoy of 6 vehicles belonging to the Cambodian side was detected, which is assumed to be additional forces.

  • At 4:20 p.m., the Cambodian side began to dismantle the barbed wire.

  • At 4:23 p.m., the Thai side brought in Crowd Control Unit (CCP) to control the situation, following the rules of crowd control from light to heavy, starting with a warning and using tear gas and rubber bullets.

While Cambodian people threw sticks, rocks, and slingshots at the Thai side, the crowd control unit used LRAD vehicles, tear gas, and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters, causing the Cambodian villagers to retreat from the clash line due to the tear gas.

  • At 4:45 PM, the Thai side was laying down barbed wire and reinforcing it with tires. Cambodian people were still stationed in the area and were continuously shouting and insulting Thai officials.

  • At 5:00 PM, the situation was still not calm, with Cambodian people still inciting each other to resist Thai officials. Thai officials were constantly issuing warnings for Cambodian officials to keep their own people calm and to use sound wave transmitters to disperse the Cambodian people's gathering.

The First Army Region reiterated that following the Nong Ya Kaew incident, the Thai side implemented crowd control measures in the area, which helped ease the situation and remained prepared to respond to any further incidents. The Cambodian side still has some protesters stationed in the area observing the situation.

Tomorrow (18 September 2025), the First Army Area will hold a press conference regarding the situation in the area of Ban Nong Chan and Ban Nong Ya Kaeo, Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province, at the Multipurpose Room, First Army Area Headquarters, at 11:00 a.m.

The latest report indicates that as of 9:00 PM, the situation at Ban Nong Ya Kaew, Sa Kaeo Province, has begun to ease. Thai officials are beginning to leave the area, but some forces remain in place and are monitoring the situation to determine whether Cambodian forces will infringe on its sovereignty or attempt to provoke them that night. Should such incidents occur, Thai officials will deploy additional personnel to control the situation.
