Trump's Disappointment with Putin

Donald Trump held a joint press conference with Mark Rutte in Washington, where he announced the end of the war in Ukraine and support for Ukraine. Marco Rubio and J. D. Vance participated in the meeting from the American side. The American president threatened Russia with new tariffs if it does not conclude a peace agreement with Ukraine within 50 days − wrote Sky News.

He said he was very unhappy with Moscow and expected heavy tariffs, with plans to impose a 100 percent tariff after 50 days. He also agreed with NATO to send weapons to help Ukraine.

The US president said he would send advanced weapons to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, which could then send them to Kiev. He added that the war must end. “This is billions of dollars worth of military equipment that is being purchased from the United States, going to NATO, and being rapidly deployed on the battlefield,” Donald Trump said.

"Today we made a deal that we will send them weapons, and they will pay for them," the US president said, adding that it is not American taxpayers who will cover the costs of the weapons transferred, but NATO member countries.

The war must end, according to Donald Trump; he added that Patriot air defense systems would be sent within days and could arrive in Ukraine soon. He said that trade is a great opportunity to settle wars, which creates a chance for peace.

He stressed that he believes he has reached an agreement with Russia at least four times to end the war in Ukraine, but they are still negotiating.

Donald Trump blamed his predecessor, Joe Biden, for the outbreak of the conflict, calling it a Biden war. At the same time, he said that he talks a lot with Vladimir Putin and claimed that the Russian president knows what a fair deal is.

NATO Secretary General hails agreement as a success

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called the agreement a very big deal, saying the US president had made a decision to ensure that Ukraine would be able to maintain its defense system against Russia, and added that European allies would pay for this assistance, the BBC wrote.

He said the NATO summit was a huge success and that European countries had stepped up. The agreement with the United States will allow Kiev to obtain a huge amount of military equipment, which is great news for Ukraine, and thanked Donald Trump.

The American President listed several international conflicts that he claimed to have resolved, and reiterated that the war in Ukraine would not have broken out if he had been president in 2022. He praised the courage of the Ukrainians, but noted that their weapons were constantly running out.

Mark Rutte interjected that Russia is not bombing cities for military purposes, but to create panic among the civilian population. The US president highlighted that NATO member countries are increasing their military spending, from 2 percent of GDP to 5 percent.

Donald Trump said he would impose additional sanctions on Russia, but denied that tariffs of up to 500 percent would be imposed. However, the Moscow stock market shot up after the announcement of the tariffs, as investors expect further sanctions.

The US president said the Russian economy, which has huge potential, needs to be restored and that it should focus its resources on trade, not war. However, he was evasive about how far he would go to end the conflict.
