Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico received a clear refusal from Volodymyr Zelensky regarding his request that Ukraine stop attacking Russia's energy infrastructure so that his country can have oil and natural gas during talks between the two men in Uzhhorod, next to the Slovak border.

Exchanging information about their meetings with Trump and Putin respectively

The two leaders in their meeting - which came after Fico's trip to China, where he met, among others, with Russian President Vladimir Putin, with whom he once again reaffirmed his good relationship - exchanged information about what Zelensky discussed with Donald Trump and what Fico discussed with Putin, while focusing in particular on the issue of Ukrainian attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure, since Slovakia is largely dependent on Russian oil supplies and has been angered by Ukrainian attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline, which disrupt the transport of Russian crude oil.

Zelensky wants cooperation with Fico for oil and natural gas as long as it is not Russian

According to Zelensky, Kiev is willing to cooperate with Slovakia to ensure its oil and gas supplies, as long as they do not come from Russia.

He made the remark during a press conference in western Ukraine after meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, adding that Kiev would continue to react to Russian attacks on its energy system.

As he characteristically stated: Ukraine is responding to Russia's attacks on our energy facilities and will continue to do so. We really want this war to end. However, there is no one to just sit in the dark and tolerate it.

Zelensky claimed that as part of discussions on security guarantees, the possibility of deploying thousands of foreign soldiers on Ukrainian territory was considered.

Fitzo: Security guarantees and a just peace must be found

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, after talks he had today with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that he hopes that Ukraine can soon find security guarantees and achieve a just peace in its conflict with Russia.

Fico said that relations between Ukraine and Slovakia are strong despite differences of opinion, while insisting on the energy issue.
