JUPOL wanted to clarify that the problem of what happened this Sunday comes from the climate of whitewashing and encouragement from the State Institutions and political parties that has been given to the mobilizations in La Vuelta.
Specifically, at the protest, at the corner of Paseo del Prado and Calle de Atocha, were Podemos leaders Ione Belarra and Irene Montero, who had also attended on Saturday. JUPOL has emphasized that these actions put journalists, fans, and workers at risk. Calling for a boycott of an event of this magnitude is an attack on democratic coexistence and potentially a criminal offense, they reiterated.
The union has demanded that political responsibility be clarified, while insisting on the need for the national police to have the necessary resources and personnel to address situations like the one experienced this Sunday without leaving the rest of the country unprotected. Security cannot be held hostage to political interests or institutional irresponsibility, they concluded.
