The suspect in the murder of the former speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Andriy Parubiy, has been arrested, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced. He thanked investigators on social media for their"quick and coordinated work."

The suspect was detained in the Khmelnytskyi region. It is currently believed that the crime was carefully prepared, and the escape plan was thought out. 54-year-old Andriy Parubiy was a figure in the pro-European Maidan revolution and the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada from 2016 to 2019, writes NOVA.

Parubiy was shot dead on Saturday in Lviv, in the western part of the country, a murder for which the head of Ukrainian military intelligence, Kirill Budanov, blamed Russia.
