US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday an agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip, while noting that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of his peace plan.

"Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our peace plan, and that means all hostages will be released very soon," Trump said.

He added,"Israel will withdraw its forces to an agreed-upon line as a first step toward a strong and lasting peace," noting that "all parties will be treated fairly."

Trump revealed an "agreement to end the war in Gaza," adding,"This is a great day for the Arab and Islamic world, Israel, and the United States. We thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey."
