Ali Shadmani, Iran’s wartime chief of staff, has been killed by Israel’s military, which described him on Tuesday as the country’s most senior military commander.

According to reports, at least 224 people have been killed in Iran, while 24 people have died in Israel. The international community, including China and Turkey, has urged restraint and called for diplomacy to resolve the crisis.

The situation remains volatile, with both sides showing no signs of backing down.

The G7's joint statement underscores the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, emphasizing the importance of protecting civilians and preventing further escalation.

SaharaReporters has also reported on Tuesday that Group of Seven (G7) leaders have issued a joint statement in support of Israel's security amid escalating tensions with Iran.

The statement affirms Israel's right to defend itself, with the leaders reiterating their support for the country's security.

"We affirm that Israel has a right to defend itself. We reiterate our support for the security of Israel," the statement reads.

The G7 leaders also emphasised the importance of protecting civilians and urged a broader de-escalation of hostilities in the Middle East, including a ceasefire in Gaza.

The statement comes as Iran and Israel exchange heavy strikes, sparking fears of a wider conflict. US President Donald Trump, who was attending the G7 summit in Canada, would leave the event early due to the situation in the Middle-East.
