"We are currently discussing an action plan that the Commission came up with, which it only outlined in Copenhagen three weeks ago," said the head of state.

"After that, there will be a discussion on Ukraine, a discussion about how they can be used, where we can find more money for Ukraine, and a discussion on Russia's frozen funds, to what extent they can guarantee loans that go to Ukraine, so as not to affect the European budget and the budgets of the member states," explained Nicușor Dan.

The President of Romania added that support for the Republic of Moldova and advancing the process of accession to the European Union are priorities for Romania at the meeting of European leaders.

One of the main topics on the agenda is finding new sources of financing for Kiev, in the context of uncertainty regarding American aid.

The European Commission has proposed using frozen Russian assets as collateral for a loan of up to 140 billion euros for Ukraine.

The plan would ensure the financing of Ukraine's military and economic needs for the period 2026–2027.

In total, to date, the European Union and its member countries have provided Ukraine with 177.5 billion euros in support, of which 63.2 billion were allocated for military assistance.
