On Wednesday, Democratic lawmakers released several emails raising new questions about the relationship between convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and US President Donald Trump, the New York Times reports.
Among other things, according to emails released by Democrats, Epstein wrote to his confidante Ghislaine Maxwell in 2011:"I want you to realize that the dog that didn't bark is Trump." Epstein further claims that one of his victims spent hours with Trump at his home. The victim's name has been redacted. The exact context of the message is unclear, CNN reports.
In another email to author Michael Wolff, Epstein responded to Trump's claim that he had asked him to resign his membership in the president's Mar-a-Lago club:"Trump said he asked me to resign. And further: Never was a member… Of course he knew about the girls, since he had asked Ghislaine to stop."
Trump denies involvement
In a 2015 exchange, Wolff writes that CNN was planning to ask Trump questions about his relationship with Epstein. Epstein responded:"If we could fabricate an answer for him, what do you think it should be?"
Trump denies any involvement in or knowledge of the Epstein scandal. He claims they were once friends but had a falling out. He calls Epstein a creep.
