Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the “demonstrative and cynical” attack on an apartment building in Kharkiv overnight, saying Russia “should not be rewarded” for its war against his country.

In a post on X, the Ukrainian leader says that Russia is aware that a meeting is being held in Washington today to end the war - and is attacking Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Sumy and Odessa regions this morning.

“The Russian war machine continues to destroy lives despite everything. Putin will carry out demonstrative killings to maintain pressure on Ukraine and Europe, as well as to humiliate diplomatic efforts,” he wrote.

“That is why we are seeking help to end the killings. That is why reliable security guarantees are needed. That is why Russia should not be rewarded for its participation in this war.”
