The guarantor countries in the ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement reached between Hamas and Israel on October 10 acknowledged the difficulty of finding the remains of all the dead Israeli prisoners in Gaza, given the destruction Israel has inflicted there. According to figures released by the United Nations, Israel's two-year offensive in Gaza has left behind approximately 55 million tons of debris.
In addition, given Israel's strict blockade of Gaza, the lack of sufficient heavy machinery, roads and other infrastructure makes it difficult to reach the bodies of Israeli prisoners and the bodies of the estimated 10,000 Palestinians believed to be buried under the rubble.
The ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement reached between Israel and Hamas came into effect on October 10.
Following the Israeli army's withdrawal from the"yellow line" as specified in the agreement, it was announced that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip came into effect at 12:00 on the same day.
Despite the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army continues its attacks on Palestinians under various pretexts.
Hamas had previously handed over 17 bodies to Israel as part of a ceasefire and prisoner swap agreement. Israel claimed that one of the bodies did not belong to any prisoner remaining in Gaza, and that one contained body parts belonging to a previously captured prisoner.
It was reported that the bodies of 13 Israeli prisoners were found in the Gaza Strip.
Israel has so far handed over the bodies of 195 Palestinians to Gaza authorities through the Red Cross without revealing their identities.
According to data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, only 72 of the bodies returned by Israel were identified.
Ismail al-Sawabite, the director of the government's media office in Gaza, said that the bodies provided by Israel showed signs of torture and close-range shooting, and that these findings were evidence of Israel carrying out"field executions" against Palestinian prisoners.
