Israel has struck the headquarters of the Iranian Radio and Television (IRIB), the Iranian news agency IRNA reported.

After the Israeli strike, the television station interrupted a live broadcast, the Associated Press notes.

An hour earlier, Israel issued an evacuation warning for the area of the Iranian capital where the television studios are located.

The IRIB"is on the verge of disappearing," Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said after the Israeli armed forces called on Tehran residents to leave the area where the institution's headquarters are located, Agence France-Presse reported.

"The megaphone of Iranian propaganda and incitement is about to disappear. The evacuation of residents from the surrounding area has begun," Katz stressed.

The Israeli army had previously warned that it would carry out strikes in the area targeting"military infrastructure belonging to the Iranian regime."

"Citizens of Tehran, for your own safety, please leave the third district area," Avishai Adraee, an Israeli military spokesman, said in a message posted on Telegram in Persian, accompanied by a map showing the area in red.

The Third District of Tehran is an elite neighborhood of the Iranian capital, home to a large police building and the IRIB headquarters. The area also houses the embassies of Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait, an office of the UN's International Organization for Migration (IOM), an AFP office, and several hospitals.

Earlier today, Israeli army spokesperson General Effie Defrin said that Israel now has"complete air superiority in the skies over Tehran," AFP recalls.
