Gaza. Israel yesterday broke the ceasefire with a new wave of bombings against the Gaza Strip, which left at least 46 Palestinians dead and 146 wounded, including civilians sheltering in a school in the north of the enclave. It was justified as"retaliation for an ambush" in which two soldiers were killed in Rafah.

“The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), led by the Southern Command, have launched a wave of attacks against Hamas terrorist targets in southern Gaza, following a violation of a ceasefire agreement that occurred today (yesterday),” the army announced in a brief message on its X account.

The towns of Zawaida, Nuseirat, the Muwasi area of Khan Younis, and Beit Lahiya were targeted by the Israeli offensive, the Gaza Health Ministry said.

Later, Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee said,"The IDF is once again implementing the ceasefire agreement in accordance with political-level directives, following a series of major airstrikes carried out in response to the Islamic resistance movement's violation of the pact."

Asked by a reporter whether the ceasefire in Gaza is still in effect, US President Donald Trump, aboard Air Force One, replied: “Yes, it is.”

"We want to make sure the relationship with Hamas is very peaceful," the US president explained."And, as you know, they've been quite disruptive... but it will still be handled, harshly, but appropriately."

The Islamist organization stated in a statement that it "fully, precisely, and faithfully complies with the agreement reached in Sharm el-Sheikh on October 9, 2025." It argued that "neither the mediators nor the guarantors have provided any evidence that Hamas has violated or obstructed" the implementation of the cessation of hostilities.

Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's order to act"forcefully" in the Gaza Strip following the anti-tank bomb attack on the two soldiers, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir demanded that the prime minister resume the attacks"at full power."

On its Telegram account, the Palestinian enclave's media office stated that since the truce went into effect on October 10, Israel has committed 80 violations of the agreement, resulting in 97 deaths and 230 injuries. These actions were considered"flagrant and clear violations of the ceasefire decision and the norms of international humanitarian law."

Health authorities reported that the death toll has risen to 68,159 dead and 170,203 wounded since the war launched by Israel in October 2023. On social media, Gaza officials confirmed that Tel Aviv handed over “15 unidentified (Palestinian) bodies, bringing the total number of bodies received from the occupation to 150.” Mohammed Thabet, spokesman for the electricity distribution company in the Palestinian territory, estimated the damage to the electrical system in large areas of the country at at least $728 million, while revealing that 60 employees and workers of the company died, while 100 technicians and engineers were injured during Israel's military campaigns.

Hours earlier, Trump declared that there is"no concrete timeline for disarmament" of the Islamic resistance movement."It's kind of a timeline that I'm setting for myself, but if at some point they don't do what they need to do (…) I'll do it for them. They promised they would," the tycoon said in comments to Fox News, where he also addressed accusations against Hamas for killing rival militias in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance postponed his trip to Israel amid growing tensions surrounding the truce, while Israeli media reported that he will arrive this Tuesday.

In addition, US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump adviser Jared Kushner will arrive in Israel today with the intention of advancing the cessation of hostilities in Gaza, The Times of Israel reported.
