Following a knife attack on a ten-year-old girl in Schallodenbach, Palatinate (Kaiserslautern district), police have arrested the suspect."The person has been positively identified," the West Palatinate Police Headquarters announced.
A tip from the public led investigators to the suspect. He was arrested without resistance on Saturday morning near Schneckenhausen. The man is scheduled to appear before a judge this afternoon. Schneckenhausen is a neighboring town and just a few kilometers from Schallodenbach.
Victim and perpetrator are said to be related
The 22-year-old allegedly stabbed the child on Thursday night. He is being investigated for attempted homicide. According to police, the child suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. The ten-year-old was treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital. The victim and the alleged perpetrator are said to be related.
The 22-year-old fled after the crime. On Thursday, a man matching the suspect's description was initially arrested in nearby Otterberg – however, he was not the wanted man. Police initially provided no information about the 22-year-old's possible motives.
