Mexico City. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said the Gaza Strip is a “real estate boom” and that he is in talks with the United States about how to divide the coastal enclave after the war, The Times of Israel reported Wednesday.

There is a"real estate boom" in Gaza that "pays for itself," and "we have already begun negotiations with the Americans," the far-right minister declared at a real estate conference in Tel Aviv.

“We've invested a lot of money in this war. We need to figure out how to divide the land into percentages,” Smotrich said, adding that “the demolition, the first stage of the city's renovation, has already been completed. Now all that's left is to build.”

President Donald Trump has spoken on occasion of his desire to turn the Gaza Strip into a U.S.-controlled"Riviera," a move that would encourage much of the Palestinian population to leave after the war.

Last month, The Washington Post reported that the Trump administration was considering a proposal for postwar reconstruction of Gaza that would put the Strip under US control for a decade and pay for about a quarter of its population to relocate, many of them permanently.
