247 – The President of the United States, Donald Trump, confirmed this Saturday (25) that he will meet with President Lula during the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit, which is taking place in Malaysia. The information was released by CNN Brasil , which followed Trump's statements aboard Air Force One, on a flight to the Asian country.

According to the US leader, the expected reduction in import tariffs applied to Brazilian products will depend on “the right circumstances”. The meeting between the two heads of state is expected to take place this Sunday (26), on the sidelines of the event, and promises to discuss sensitive issues in the bilateral relationship, such as the so-called 50% tariff hike on Brazilian products and the sanctions imposed on Brazilian authorities, including ministers of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) and civil servants linked to the More Doctors program.

Before Trump's speech, neither the White House nor the Brazilian government had officially confirmed the meeting. The American president's confirmation reinforces expectations of direct dialogue between Washington and Brasília on economic and diplomatic issues that have caused tension in recent weeks.

The meeting comes at a time when the Brazilian government is seeking to expand international cooperation and reduce trade barriers imposed on its products, especially in the agricultural sector.
