President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video address that one of the key targets for sanctions is Russia's trade in oil and other energy resources.

As Ukrinform reports, this is stated in Zelensky's address, published on the President's website.

According to Zelensky, today he already held a meeting with Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov following the results of the Stavka. They discussed the issue of drones and agreements reached with partners this week.

Active time: many decisions. We need everything to work out completely. This week alone, three sanctions steps: Britain, Japan, and New Zealand. The European Union extended personal sanctions. It is important that pressure against Russia is maintained and intensified in all jurisdictions, and one of the key targets for our actions is Russian trade in oil and other energy resources. Sanctions - and our proposals for sanctions are the basis for partners' decisions - are directed against the entire infrastructure of the shadow fleet: against tanker captains, against insurers, against market operators who trade with Russia, - the President emphasized.

According to him, it is necessary for the consumption of Russian oil to decrease, and this will reduce Russia's ability to wage war.

"A lot is being done, and the most effective are our long-range steps, the accuracy of Ukrainian soldiers. The sanctions that act the fastest are the strikes of our soldiers," Zelenskyy noted.

He thanked all partners who deliberately limit purchases of Russian energy resources.

"Over the years of this war - and this is Russia's war alone, Putin's war - during this time, Europe has gone from almost complete dependence on Russian energy resources, primarily gas, to a more autonomous life - with different suppliers," Zelenskyy emphasized.

will deal a major blow to Russia's shadow fleet and its military supply chains.
