Russia has agreed to respect Ukraine's territorial integrity after the war, US Vice President J.D. Vance said today, recalling some of the concessions Moscow made in talks with US President Donald Trump. However, Vance admitted that negotiations with Russia have had mixed success.

"I think the Russians have made significant concessions to President Trump for the first time in three and a half years of conflict," Vance said. According to him, Russia has shown a willingness to be more flexible in its demands. According to him, Trump, who met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska last week, is conducting very energetic diplomacy.

"Among the things they acknowledged is that Ukraine will have territorial integrity after the war," Vance said, citing one of the concessions. Moscow also acknowledged that Ukraine will have security guarantees after the war. Vance noted that the United States would play an active role in ensuring that Ukraine receives security guarantees, but again ruled out the participation of American troops in security missions in the country.

Vance admitted in the interview that the concessions made so far are not enough to end the war."Negotiations are going up and down," he said, adding that it is possible that Trump's diplomatic efforts will ultimately fail."If we hit a wall, we will continue the process of negotiating, using leverage," he said. He pointed to the tariffs that the Trump administration has imposed on India for its purchases of Russian oil.

Trump said on Friday that he would wait two weeks to see if there was progress in efforts to stop the fighting in Ukraine. At the same time, he again did not rule out imposing massive sanctions on Russia if diplomacy failed and the fighting continued. However, he did not rule out the possibility that the United States could stop being interested in the Russia-Ukraine war.
