Finland pulled off the biggest surprise of Eurobasket after defeating Serbia 92-86 and advancing to the quarterfinals - Turkey, Germany and Lithuania were already in the round of 8.
Finland was the surprise of this year's Eurobasket and they knocked out Serbia, winning 92-86 and sending them back to Belgrade. Lauri Markkanen was awesome with 29 points, Valtonen was decisive, scoring 10 points in the last period.
The match was a derby throughout, with the Finns making it difficult for the Serbs. Pesic saw only the duo of Jokic and Jovic struggle and all his other players remain at low levels of performance.
Porzingis wasn't enough, Lithuania reached the quarterfinals
Kristaps Porzingis dreamed of leading Latvia to an unforgettable distinction at Eurobasket 2025 and the road was clear, but Lithuania gave him nightmares. Despite his own dazzling double-double with 34 points and 19 rebounds in 33 minutes, the Baltics went green.
With unexpected stars Arnas Velicka and Azoulas Tubelis, Rimas Kurtinaic's team prevailed 88-79 in Riga and became the third team in history to secure a ticket to the quarterfinals of the competition, immediately after Turkey and Germany. It now awaits which of Greece or Israel it will face in the battle for a place in the top four.

The two Lithuanian internationals combined for 39 points, 17 rebounds and 13 assists, forming a short-tall duo that shattered every defensive effort by the Latvians. Lukas Banki expected much more from the Bertans brothers, without getting anything beyond Davis' 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Dairis was even left without a shot. Only Lomas kept the score high (21 points, 7 assists) in a match that will haunt this generation of the country.

World Champion and bronze medalist in the previous Eurobasket (2022) Germany stepped on the gas in the 4th period, in the second match of the round of 16 of the competition and took the victory with. 85-58 over Portugal, at Arena Riga, Latvia. Germany will face the winner of the match Italy-Slovenia (7/9, 18:30) in the quarter-finals.
The Panthers' miss outside the 6.75 (they had 1/24 at the beginning of the 3rd period) allowed the team of Boston Celtics center Niemias Keita to even overtake with +5 (21-26 in the 16th minute). In the 3rd period, Franz Wagner and Isaac Bonga led Germany to +9 (52-43), only for Portugal to respond with an 8-0 run (the five consecutive points were scored by Diogo Brito) and get closer to the point, 52-51, in the 30th minute.
The Germans entered the 4th and final period determined. Maondo Lo scored two three-pointers and the German 13-0 run brought the Punchers to +14 (65-51). Travade Williams hit a three-pointer (65-54) 5:42 before the end, but that would be the last time the Iberians would be a threat. By the end, the Portuguese would score just 4 points, while Maondo Lo would hit another three-pointer and Tristan Da Silva three, for the final 85-58.
Dennis Schroeder scored 16 points, but the Sacramento Kings point guard was 0/7 on three-pointers and had just 3 assists. Franz Wagner also scored 16 points (0/4 on three-pointers), grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Isaac Bonga had 15 points and 7 rebounds.
From Portugal, returning to Lisbon, Niemias Keta scored a double-double, with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
Sengun and Osman led Turkey to 8
Everyone was waiting... a monologue, it turned into a thriller. The first knockout of the round of 16 of Eurobasket 2025 was decided in the details, with Turkey ultimately prevailing with a score of 85-79 over the highly combative and competitive Sweden!
Ergin Ataman's team's opponent in the quarterfinals of the competition will be the winner of tomorrow's (7/9, 12:00) Poland - Bosnia and Herzegovina match.

Cedi Osman… was shooting continuously from 6.75m. putting on a great performance, as was the usual suspect, Alperem Sengun (double-double with 24pts, 16rpg). The Scandinavians had five double figures, with the Heat's Pele Larsson, Luke Håkansson and Simon Birgander standing out.
Turkey… was chasing almost the entire first half with Sweden having entered the match exceptionally well. Hence the Swedish lead at the break (37-42). In the third quarter, Ercan Osmani did a great job and Alperen Sengun filled his statistics in an impressive way.
The Swedes fought until the end, but ultimately Ataman's team was calmer in the finale for the final 85-79.
