From a diplomatic point of view, the quarrel between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and American leader Donald Trump in the Oval Office was suicide, said the head of the Ukrainian presidential office Andriy Yermak at a meeting with students of Kyiv universities.
You know, when the discussion was going on in the Oval Office, from the point of view of diplomacy, from the point of view of his career, everyone will tell you that it was suicide, Ukrainian media quotes the politician as saying.
According to Yermak, the president, despite the diplomatic risks, acted based on the interests of the military. He thought about how people at the front would perceive it when they say what he heard there today, and how to react to it, he noted.
On February 28, Trump and Zelensky met at the White House. The leaders were supposed to discuss the details of the agreement on the mineral deal. However, the meeting turned into an emotional spat between Zelensky, Trump and US Vice President J.D. Vance, who accused Kyiv of ingratitude for the assistance provided. Zelensky left the White House early, and the agreement was never signed.
