Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Saturday that he will travel to Washington on Monday to discuss"ending the killing and war" in Ukraine with US President Donald Trump, TASR reported, citing an AFP report.

Zelensky made the remarks on Saturday after a phone call with Trump, during which the US president briefed him on the"main points" of his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

Meanwhile, the American newspaper The New York Times, citing two senior European officials, reported that European leaders have also been invited to Monday's meeting between Trump and Zelensky at the White House. They will also hold videoconference talks on Sunday afternoon as part of the so-called coalition of the willing, the Elysee Palace announced.

Zelensky and Trump discussed

In his Facebook post, Zelensky wrote that he had a “long and content-rich conversation” with Trump after the Alaska summit. He added that the conversation began with bilateral talks, and later European leaders were also invited. Zelensky specified that these talks lasted more than 1.5 hours, including his approximately hour-long conversation with Trump.

After Trump reported on the main points of the discussion with Putin, Zelensky, in his own words, confirmed Ukraine's readiness to make every effort to achieve peace.

Trilateral meeting

According to Zelensky, it is important that America's power has an impact on the development of the situation. On behalf of his country, Zelensky also supported Trump's proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia. He added that key issues are better discussed at the level of leaders and a trilateral format is suitable for this.

At the same time, Zelenskyy said it was important for"Europeans to be involved at every stage in order to ensure, together with America, reliable security guarantees" for Ukraine.
