Military Operations and Hamas

As part of Egypt's intensive diplomatic efforts to enhance regional and international coordination on Arab issues, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, yesterday held contacts with Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister of Foreign Affairs of France; Georgios Gerapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece; Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The calls addressed the overall developments in the Palestinian issue and the efforts being made to advance the ceasefire process. Minister Abdel Aati emphasized the importance of building on the outcomes of the historic Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit and the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, ensuring the fulfillment of the Palestinian people's aspirations and the establishment of their independent state. He also highlighted the need to enter the second phase of the agreement to end the war in Gaza and begin early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

During the calls, the Foreign Minister also reviewed the ongoing preparations for the International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza, which Egypt will host next November. He stressed that the conference represents a pivotal step towards unifying international efforts to support the Palestinian people and contribute to rebuilding what was destroyed by the war, in accordance with a comprehensive Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction.

On another front, the calls addressed the critical situation in Sudan, particularly in El Fasher, which is witnessing widespread unrest. The two sides emphasized the need to support regional and international efforts to achieve a ceasefire and a comprehensive political settlement, based on the outcomes of the recent Sudan Quartet meeting in Washington. They also emphasized the importance of building on these efforts to coordinate positions and redouble humanitarian efforts in affected areas.
