Mexico City. The Mexican government reported that the meeting to which the United States ambassador, Ronald Johnson, was summoned addressed the strengthening of the bilateral maritime relationship, respect for sovereignty, and the safeguarding of human life at sea.

Through social networks, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the Navy reported on the meeting with the White House representative, which took place on the instructions of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo after Washington's armed forces carried out a new missile attack on a supposed"narco-boat" in international waters of the Pacific, 450 nautical miles - 830 kilometers - from the coast of Guerrero.

This is the first time that the Mexican government has summoned the United States ambassador in the context of these attacks on vessels with alleged drug cargo.

They added that the meeting "aimed at strengthening bilateral coordination between Mexico and the United States on maritime matters." This took place "in a cordial atmosphere," where senior Mexican officials and the U.S. ambassador"agreed that the main priority is the safeguarding of human life at sea, as well as full respect for national sovereignty, reaffirming the commitment to understanding and cooperation that have historically characterized the relationship between both nations." The federal government secretariats reiterated their commitment to acting with professionalism, dialogue, and institutional cooperation,"so that Mexico maintains a constructive, collaborative, and solid role in shared maritime security."
