Machado Dedicates Prize to Trump and Their Communication

As Index previously reported, Venezuelan opposition politician Maria Corina Machado has been awarded this year's Nobel Peace Prize. This is one of the important pieces of news about the prestigious award. The other is about someone who really wanted to receive it, but didn't:

The American president claimed the award so loudly that many people awaited his reaction to the negative decision with almost feverish interest.

White House: Politics put before peace

The White House has now spoken out – and sharply criticized the Oslo decision.

The Nobel Committee has proven that it puts politics before peace

– wrote Steven Cheung, the White House communications director, on the X social platform on Friday. “President Trump will continue to make peace agreements, end wars and save lives,” Cheung said. “He has a humanitarian heart, and there will never be another man who can move mountains with his will alone,” he added, referring to the US president.

"I stopped seven wars"

The Nobel Peace Prize is considered the most important political award on Earth. Donald Trump is known to have been keen to receive the prize, and several people have indicated that the US president has been nominated for the award, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but he has also been supported by the Azerbaijani president and the Pakistani government. Donald Trump has repeatedly stressed that he deserves the prize because, according to his own statement, he has already stopped seven wars by 2025.

Everyone says I should get the Nobel Peace Prize for all of these achievements

– he thought then.

The committee therefore had a difficult task, and they mentioned how much pressure they were under, but this did not influence their decision. At the same time, Norway is still worried because the US president may resort to raising tariffs or demanding greater participation in NATO, so the Norwegians have prepared for this possibility, as the decision was made on Monday, before the Gaza peace plan was approved.
