European countries will"accelerate negotiations" with Iran, but Tehran must provide all guarantees that its nuclear intentions are peaceful and it will never have nuclear weapons.
French President Emmanuel Macron made this statement after a telephone conversation with Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian on the social network X, Ukrinform reports.
"I am convinced that there is a way to end the war and avoid even greater dangers. To achieve this goal, we will accelerate the negotiations that France and its European partners are conducting with Iran," Macron wrote.
The French leader warned his counterpart of his deep concern about Iran's nuclear program.
"Iran must never obtain nuclear weapons, and it is Iran that must provide full guarantees that its intentions are peaceful," Macron added.
He also reiterated his demand for Iran to immediately release two French citizens who are being held in inhumane and unjust detention in Iran.
As Ukrinform reported, the foreign ministers of Germany, the United Kingdom, France (E3 Group), and the EU are generally satisfied with the results of their meeting with the Iranian foreign minister, as they saw a desire to continue negotiations. They stated this following the meeting in Geneva on June 20.
