Nicuşor Dan sent a congratulatory message to Karol Nawrocki on Tuesday, after he was declared the winner of the presidential elections in Poland. The Romanian president expressed his desire, in the message posted on X, to work together to strengthen bilateral relations between Romania and Poland.

"Congratulations Karol Nawrocki on your electoral victory. I look forward to collaborating to further strengthen the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Poland," Nicuşor Dan wrote on the X platform.

In his message, he also mentioned how important the relationship between the two states is.

"Close collaboration between our countries remains essential for ensuring security on the Eastern Flank and promoting cohesion and safety," the president's post states.

The victory of Karol Nawrocki, the nationalist opposition candidate, was narrowly achieved, and the result was considered by analysts to be a blow to the pro-European direction that the current center-right government, led by Donald Tusk, has tried to promote.

Nawrocki became the president of Poland with 50.89% of the vote. The victory came with a margin of about 370,000 votes over Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski. The latter obtained 10,237,177 votes, meaning 49.11%.

Although the ruling coalition has held a parliamentary majority since 2023, following the defeat of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, there are internal tensions. Some experts believe that Nawrocki's success could accentuate these differences within the government.
