US Attack on Iran

Israel-Iran Conflict

Amid the worsening conflict in the Middle East, the Argentine government expressed its explicit support for the recent military attacks led by the United States and Israel against nuclear facilities in Iran. The Casa Rosada (Presidential Palace) emphasized its alignment with the administrations of Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, and affirmed that Argentina"is on the right side of history."

The official position was announced this Sunday through a social media post by the Undersecretary of Press of the Presidency, Javier Lanari. On his X (formerly Twitter) account, the official wrote:"You only have to look at who supports Iran to realize that Argentina is on the right side of history. The United States and Israel are at the forefront of defending Judeo-Christian culture, the West, and capitalism..."

The statement was interpreted as strong political and ideological support for US-Israeli military action against the Iranian regime, amid extreme tension in the region following Washington's offensive against three nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

Former US President Donald Trump hailed the military operation as a demonstration of his country's military might: "No other army in the world could have done this," he said. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the US government's determination."Trump and I often say, 'Peace comes through strength.' This was a bold decision," he said.

In line with this vision, the Argentine government made its international position clear. President Javier Milei had already announced its alignment with Washington and Tel Aviv in various forums, and it is now reinforced in the face of the crisis with Iran. The Argentine administration believes that these countries are spearheading a global defense against the rise of authoritarian regimes and threats that, in its view, threaten"the values of the West."

So far, no official joint statement has been issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but spokespersons for the Executive Branch confirmed that the position expressed by Lanari is shared by the political leadership of the Casa Rosada.
