TEL AVIV, KOMPAS.com - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was furious after an Iranian missile hit the Soroka Medical Center in Israel on Thursday (19/6/2025).

An Iranian missile hit the main hospital in southern Israel early Thursday, ABC News reported.

The attack caused extensive damage to the hospital, but no serious injuries were reported.

"We will demand the full price from the tyrants in Tehran," Netanyahu said.

Another missile hit a high-rise building and several other residential buildings near Tel Aviv.

Two doctors told AP that the missile hit shortly after air raid sirens sounded, causing a loud explosion that could be heard from a safe room.

They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media.

The hospital said the main impact was on the old surgical building which had been evacuated in recent days.

Following the attack, medical facilities were closed to all but life-threatening cases.

Soroka Medical Center has more than 1,000 beds and provides services to approximately 1 million residents in southern Israel.

Iran's Answer

Meanwhile, Iran said the main target of the missile attack that hit Soroka Medical Center was an Israeli military and intelligence base, not a health facility.

"The main targets of the attack were the Israeli Army Command and Intelligence Base (IDF C4I) and the Army Intelligence Camp in the Gav-Yam Technology Park, located in the vicinity of Soroka Hospital," state news agency IRNA reported.

It was said that the hospital was only hit by the blast wave, and that the target was a military facility.

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps or IRGC also issued a statement about the attack, as reported by AFP.

"In this operation, the regime's command and intelligence center near a hospital was targeted by highly accurate and guided missiles," the IRGC said.
