"One of the things we will ask for is also (..) to deploy additional certain assets, even experimental ones, in our territory and test how they will be able to operate in changing conditions," Defense Minister Dovile Šakaliene said at a press conference.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicates that Foreign Minister Kēstutis Budris and Šakaliene have sent a joint letter to NATO Secretary General Markus Ritts.

Lithuanian officials announced on Tuesday that the drone that flew into Lithuania from Belarus last week and crashed at the Gaižūni military training ground was equipped with explosives. It was carrying approximately two kilograms of explosives.

The drone arrived in Lithuania from Belarus on July 28, and on August 1, it was found crashed at a military training ground in Gaižūni, Jonava district.

This is the second airspace violation in the past month involving a drone flying into Lithuania from Belarus. The previous time was on July 10, when a Russian-made Gerbera drone flew into Lithuania and crashed about a kilometer from the border. This drone was not equipped with explosives.

Lithuanian officials have said that, according to the information obtained so far, the drone that crashed in Gaižūni is also a"Gerbera".

According to representatives of the Lithuanian Air Force, the basic version is that these are Russian drones sent to Ukraine, but were disoriented by Ukrainian electronic warfare equipment.

Russia uses"Gerbera" drones, which are made of plywood and foam, as decoys or for electronic espionage in the war in Ukraine, but they can also carry explosives.

On September 7 last year, a Russian"Shahed" drone equipped with explosives entered Latvian airspace and crashed in Gaigalava parish, Rēzekne region.
