Whittaker: There is a possibility that we could supply Ukraine with our own reserve military capabilities
There is a possibility that the United States of America will deliver its reserve military capacities to Ukraine, in order to help Kiev improve its position on the battlefield and force the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, to sit down at the negotiating table, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whittaker said today.
He stated that such weapons, if deployed in Ukraine, have the potential to"change the balance of power" in the war between Russia and Ukraine, reports Bloomberg.
"We have capabilities that are not currently deployed on the battlefield in Ukraine that are terrifying, that are powerful, and that can literally do serious damage," Whittaker said.
Ukrainian authorities recently made an urgent request for additional military assistance as Russian forces advance along the front line, particularly in the east of the country.

Zelensky: Ukraine is increasing the use of long-range weapons and sanctions against Russia
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he discussed the use of long-range weapons, including missiles and drones, with the country's military leadership in detail, as well as the need to strengthen the so-called"long-range sanctions" against Russia.
"We discussed in great detail the use of our long-range weapons, our missiles and drones. There was also talk of production, supply of the army and training of crews. The goal is to be significantly more active in the preparation and implementation of long-term sanctions against Russia. The more effective we are in our range, the faster we will reach peace," Zelensky said, Ukrinform reported.
He pointed out that"Ukraine is not waging war for the sake of war", unlike Russia, but wants to achieve peace. He added that even Hamas now shows readiness for negotiations, while, as he said,"dictator Vladimir Putin" still refuses. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine, together with international partners, is creating the conditions for"forcing Russia to peace."
"We support all global diplomatic efforts for peace in the Middle East and strongly believe that fair pressure on Russia will bring peace to Ukraine and our entire region.
It is important that American leadership remains active," concluded Zelensky. He previously welcomed the progress towards peace in the Middle East, assessing that"Russia remains the main source of war and terror in the world."

The process of restoring the power supply for the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant has been initiated
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced today that the process for re-establishing the external power supply of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Ukraine has been initiated, after intensive contacts with the Russian and Ukrainian sides in recent weeks.
As the director of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, said in a post on the X social network,"after intensive consultations, the process of re-connecting the power plant to external power via the Dneprovska and Ferosplavna-1 transmission lines has begun," Reuters reported.
The off-site power outage occurred as a result of the military conflict in the area, raising concerns about the safety of Europe's largest nuclear power plant.

Ushakov denies that the efforts of Russia and the US to end the war in Ukraine have been exhausted
The aide of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov, said today that the efforts of Russia and the United States of America to end the conflict in Ukraine are still alive.
"Claims that the momentum (of the negotiations) in Anchorage is fading or that the momentum has been exhausted are completely false. We continue to work with the Americans based on what was agreed between the presidents in Anchorage," Ushakov said, TASS reports.
Ushakov's statements seem to contradict the earlier statements of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, who said yesterday that the momentum from the meeting between Putin and US President Donald Trump, which took place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska, was"mostly exhausted".

Putin will start the third world war?
President Vladimir Zelensky said that Russian President Vladimir Putin could start a new mobilization in Russia, which could pose a serious threat to Europe and cause a world war.
The president's warning comes as Russia steps up provocations against NATO countries, including a wave of mysterious drone sightings across Europe that have raised fears of hybrid warfare.
"Wherever quick success is achieved, that's where (Putin) will go if there is mobilization," Zelensky said.
"There is a significant risk that Putin will actually go to world war."

Ryabkov: For now, there is no reason to talk about starting the Zaporozhye nuclear plant
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said today that, until the transmission lines to the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant are restored, there is no reason to talk about restarting it.
"The power plant is in a state of cold shutdown, that is common knowledge. The issue of restarting it is a matter for experts. Currently, as far as I understand, the backup transmission lines connected to the power plant to ensure cooling of the reactor have not been restored either," Ryabkov told reporters in Moscow, reports Interfax.
